Beauty & Hair

Hello lovers, it's been a while to write a post and here I am with a strong comeback: Beauty & Hair - a very interesting topic, I guess, because both, beauty and hair, are two issues which concern every woman who wants to be fab and stylish in her everyday life.

The many lives of cat-eyes: kittenish liner makes another comeback on spring runways. Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and Kate Moss are some of the screen legends and supermodels who swear by the cat-eye liner. Shouldn't you?

Hot pink, blood orange, blackberry, gray - this season any shade goes as long as you can't miss it. Here's a small guide to the statement pout.

Less is more and crops are on top once again. Karlie Kloss made headlines this fall when she chopped her long locks into a chin-grazing bob. But that's already a distant memory. Now, even closer-sheared styles have been cropping up on the Couture runways and the red carpet. Here, a short history of the short cut.

Confidential Backstage Beauty Tips:

In the world of beauty, there are endless tips and rules to keep you looking fabulous. In the list below Beauty High breaks down all those tips to make the industry less scary from makeup artists, hairstylists, skincare gurus,of course. Remember, beauty should always be fun!

1. Sure, it's chilly in your bathroom in the morning, but don't be tempted to crank up the heat in the shower. Hot water followed by cool, dry air leads to rough skin. To lock in moisture post-shower, pat — don't rub — yourself dry, and coat skin in a thick alpha-hydroxy lotion.

2. For flawless skin choose a cleanser and moisturizer appropriate for your skin type that you can use a.m. and p.m., and then supplement it weekly with a purifying face mask. You should also consider using a nightly skin treatment that exfoliates dead skin cells.

3. Trying to look well rested when you aren't? Avoid piling on the foundation. Use a tinted moisturizer instead, followed by a beige eye pencil — it counteracts any redness around your eyes.

4. Large pores are caused by two things: genetics and age. Want to shrink them? Go to a dermatologist or a spa to get microdermabrasion treatments, a type of facial that gently sloughs off the dead surface layer of skin.

5. Keep your eyes open when applying liquid liner — otherwise your line will look uneven. Apply by drawing three dashes, one on the corner, one in the middle, and one on the inside corner of your eye. Then go back and connect the dashes for a smooth line.

6. For full lips go for a glossy look. Try first outlining the perimeter of your lips using a concealer brush dipped in bronzer two shades deeper than your skin tone. Then, top pout with gold, peach, or coral gloss.

7. Rose and lavender work wonders in calming skin inflammation, according to Michele VanLandingham, ingredient information specialist for Dr. Hauschka Skin Care.

8. Prevent dead-skin pileup by using a pumice stone in the shower — and don't be tempted into using a razor. That will only cause more skin to grow back. Pamper your feet with moisturizing facial masks
9. If you're looking for a dramatic eye, try liquid eyeliner. Choose an eyeliner brush that's small with angled bristles for a cleaner line.

10. We love the look of a perfect sheer manicure on long, tapered talons as much as the next woman, but let's face it: It takes time, patience, and money to keep it up. For equally elegant, less fussy nails, go short, round, and dark. File your nails so they line up with the tips of your fingers and round off the corners.

11. To keep eye shadow from creasing, eliminate as much oil as possible from your lids. To do it, use an eye shadow base or pressed powder before applying color.
Looser, more powdery shadows are best if creasing is a problem. Make sure you stay away from these kinds of shades.

12. Naturally pale but want a healthy glow? The good news is that you don't need a lot of makeup to achieve great-looking skin, says New York makeup artist Paula Dorf. For natural-looking results, apply glow products to the apples of your cheeks, the bridge of your nose, your hairline, and chin.

13. Want eyelashes that are full and thick, not clumpy? Use an eyelash curler only on clean lashes, and start at the roots.

14. Want to make your small eyes look bigger? Stay away from dark eyeshadows. Start with a nude base, then apply shadow a shade or two darker than the base to your crease and use your finger to blend the color up toward your eyebrow.

15. Olive oil is a great cure for all things dry. For soft cuticles, place your fingers in a bowl of warm olive oil. Olive oil is also a great way to remove waterproof mascara. Put a few drops on a cotton ball and smooth over closed eyes.

16. When covering up blemishes, select a color for what you're covering up. For example, orange-tinged concealers counteract blueish under-eye circles. A mint-green concealer hides the redness of a pimple. The idea is that concealers act as neutralizers. Unlike foundation, concealer is mostly made of pigment, so you need only a little bit.

17. "I frequently see women with deeper wrinkles on one side of their face — the side they sleep on, of course," says New York dermatologist Heidi A. Waldorf. To avoid "sleep lines," opt for silk or satin pillowcases and pile on the antiaging products.

18. To sop up oil and refresh makeup, lightly mist your face with toner, then pat with a tissue, says Eva Scrivo, makeup artist and owner of the eponymous New York City salon. Finish with a dusting of loose powder.

19. Even if you didn't get enough sleep last night, your skin doesn't have to give you away. Nothing wakes up a face like bright cheek color. Consider a cream blush with red or pink overtones. Blend into the apples of your cheeks and set with loose powder.

20.Refresh your makeup by spraying your face with water. While your face is still wet, start reblending the foundation, powder, or concealer you already have on.

21.To minimize your makeup bag, pack only the essentials: moisturizer for luminous skin, rehydrating elixir to refresh your makeup, powder to de-shine your T-zone, an eyeshadow palette, lipstick, and mascara.

22.Easy on the foundation. Makeup used to cover up pimples tends to clog pores and cause more blemishes. Try using a concealer with a zit-zapping ingredient like salicylic acid.

23. The best way to make a makeup change is to choose the feature you get complimented on most, and play it up with a color that's the opposite of what you normally wear. Like neutrals? Go for color. Like color? Try earth tones.

24. Here's a secret for super-smooth, quenched lips: Use your richest eye cream on your lips! Note: Be sure it's a "hydrating" formula, not "firming" — which is code for drying.

25. The choice is yours: Lower your calorie intake by a third or add antiaging resveratrol (from grape skins) to your regimen. Both send your body into survival mode, which can increase your lifespan and help maintain youthful-looking skin. But before you start drowning your liver in cabernet, know that the recommended 2500 mg per day requires 15 glasses of red wine.

26. To copy the bevy of celebs sporting smoldering eyes on the red carpet, stay away from blue hues, which can make you look like you have under-eye circles. Instead, go for black, gray, brown, or — if you want "color" — dark green shadows and liners. Seriously smoky eyes can look smokin' if you do it right.

27. The space between your eyebrows should be equal to the width of your eyes, and start where they line up with your nostrils
.
28. Play up your pout — it reminds people you're no pushover — with a deep, dramatic lipstick. Use your finger for a personally stamped finish. Want a fuller effect? Highlight the area above your bow with a brush of gold eyeshadow
.
29. If you've spritzed once too many — generally that means no more than one pump on each side of the neck and one on each wrist — Kilian Hennessy, founder of fragrance line By Kilian, says it's best to grab a washcloth and quickly wipe away excess scent from anywhere perfume was applied. If the scent remains intense, try an unscented soapy towel.

30. To prevent hair color from fading in the summer months, use a conditioning treatment weekly or bi-monthly.

31. “Always keep your summer makeup minimal. Minimal and sheer makeup is the way to go when it’s hot and muggy outside.” – Mary Greenwell, celebrity makeup artist

32. “Balance out your shimmer. If you're doing a shimmery eye, do matte lips”- Raychel Wade, founder of Cheek to Chic and La Prairie’s colour ambassador.

33. To make your manicure last, apply a thin layer of clear every two days.

34. Sunscreens that claim to provide “all-day protection” and “water resistance” are not reliable; don’t be fooled by these claims and reapply all sunscreens at least every two to three hours.

35. Use blotting papers to manage oil and shine in your T-Zone “which are also great for cleaning up around the eyes”- Rebecca Restrepo, makeup artist

36. Always wash your makeup off before bed. “That morning-after look has never been a good one, for anyone”-Rachel Adler, beauty director Beautyhigh.com

37. ”When you wear a red lip it’s important that it stays exactly where you put it. Using a long wearing lip pencil to create the perfect shape and a lip color are key to having a perfect red lip.”-Kristofer Buckle, celebrity makeup artist

38. To make volume last all day, avoid running your fingers through hair. “Oil from your hands can weigh down your roots leaving your hair flat at the end of the day”-Tatum Neill, Arrojo Studio

39. Try to avoid washing your hair everyday. Constant shampooing leaves hair dry and your scalp will create more oils to compensate for the loss of moisture.

40. Always use a moisturizer with SPF in the morning. Even in the winter!

41. Carrots are good for the hair. A healthy diet leads to a beautiful you.

42.  Hydrate your under-eye area with an eye cream to prevent puffiness and bags.

43. Use a facial exfoliater bi-weekly to get dead skin of dead skin. Makeup will look better on a clean, smooth canvas.

44. For makeup that lasts all day and night, use a makeup-sealing product.

45. There are always cheap, natural and effective homemade beauty recipes.

46.  If you straighten your hair with a flat iron, cause less heat damage by letting hair air-dry. The less heat, the better!

47. ”I always think that less is more, there’s a point where you look in the mirror and say ‘Is this too much?’ and if you even have that inclination then it usually is.”- Kim Catrall, Sex and the City

48. When applying bronzer, “first start by applying it around the perimeter of your face and follow with a light dusting on your forehead, nose and chin”- Mally Roncal, Mally Beauty

49. ”The best time to apply creams is after the shower, as the skin has been de-oiled.”- Dr. Stephen P. Bracci

50.Use a cream or milk cleanser to wash your face. Creams are less drying than gels.

what style are you?

Hello lovers, did you ever think what style are you? Did you ever managed to identify what style best suits you and illustrates your personality? Some of us may have one and only style but some others may have many styles and have the ability to be like chameleons. Personally, I believe that you should be flexible with your style and choose the style/outfit which suits you best, depending on the occasion or circumstances. Obviously, we all have our favourites which are our standard styles, but we shouldn't be afraid to try something new.

I am a believer of the quote which James Galway once said that "running through things because you are familiar with them, breeds routine and this is the seed of boredom". If you can understand what he's saying, then you can change something in your life in order to make it more interesting. Don't be afraid of changes. Maybe they can offer you a different kind of happiness. You will see that when you really want to try something new and you do so, you will be excited and your face will be bright because you managed to do something new.You can start from your style. Change it a bit and when you miss your old one, then go back for a break!
