Hello everyone,
Time to get matchy matchy!!!
Wearing matching top and bottom may sound like a boring trend to some people; but with its increasing appearance on the street and in several high-street as well as luxury brands, matchy-matchy is promised to be one of the hottest trends of the season and not only. While it is a common look to wear matching blazer and trousers/skirt, this look is not very suited for a beach holiday or even a city break in this weather. With the summer approaching, there are plenty of other options for you to choose in order to rock this trend. For a shopping trip in the city, you can choose a beautiful printed/floral t-shirt with matching shorts, or a bright colour top and a matching skirt. For a day on the beach, if you aren’t planning to swim, a crop/bralet top and short skirt would be a great choice while matching light-weight kimono jacket and shorts/skirt would be a perfect option for a cooler weather. If you, unfortunately, still have to head to the office this summer, a matching blazer (or shirt if it’s too hot) and skirt would still be the classic and elegant choice but opt for a bold printed ones if you dare to make a statement!
Nailing a matchy matchy look is prrrrreeeeeetttyy easy. What do you have to do? Cover yourself with a top and bottom piece, whether it be: solid, print, graphics or floral print just make sure it is very “Matchy matchy”.
This trend can suit anyone but if you don’t like sticking out like a sore thumb stick to solid pastel colors, not print, because, as you can imagine, doubling a print is like “HELLO, I’m here!!” one print is already enough to grab attention, now doubled?? Chiiiillllddddd!!! BE READY!
Now I know I just said this trend is easy, well…. it can also “easily” go wrong! More than any other time it is crucial to pay attention to your accessories with this look.
TIP: If you have a print matchy-matchy look and your NOT AN EXPERT Or EXPERIENCED WITH CLASHING PRINTS please stay safe by wearing solid shoes, solid purse/clutch or if you choose a head piece, also keep it solid. On the other hand if you wear a solid matchy-matchy color, you may play with printed accessories a little freely. Got it? cool.
So, will you be trying this look?
p.s this is so from my mother’s time, she had so many matchy-matchy looks. When I was a kid she used to dress us like that too and I disliked it … my, my look how things have changed! It’s all I’m drawn too lately!
Au voir dear fashionistas!
